This work depicts a heart cast from frozen milk. The heart hovers in an embryonic, amniotic, liminal space. Pulse uses milk, a material expressed from the mammary glands, to be cast in the shape of a heart, which pumps internal blood. I’m interested in the valence of colour – here milk as a form of whiteness coursing through the body – and exploring how this force might be captured and rendered into another state.
